Cover letters for UAE jobs
When a Gulf employer reads one, what it should say, and how to write a tailored letter in a couple of minutes.
- Keep it under one page: three or four short paragraphs.
- Name the role and the company in the first line.
- Prove fit with two or three facts from your CV, not adjectives.
- Never claim results or skills your CV does not show.
Do UAE employers read cover letters?
Not always, but often enough to matter. Online application systems frequently have a cover letter field, recruiters forward them to hiring managers, and a letter is the natural body of an email application. A short, specific letter can move you ahead of candidates who sent only a CV.
What to write
Open with the exact role and company. In the middle, pick the two or three achievements from your CV that match what the job ad asks for, and say how they match. Close with your availability to talk and, where relevant, your notice period or visa status.
Leave out clichés such as "passionate", "results-driven" or "team player". They take space and prove nothing.
One letter per job
A generic letter reads as generic. Change at least the opening line and the evidence paragraph for each application, using the language of the job ad where it genuinely fits your experience.
