Skills to put on a CV for UAE jobs
Which skills to list, how many, and how to make a recruiter believe them.
- List 6 to 10 skills that match the job ad.
- Prove the important ones in your experience bullets too.
- In the Gulf, languages and licences count as skills.
- Use the job ad's exact words where they are true for you.
How many skills to list
Six to ten is enough. A long list of 25 skills makes each one look less real. Choose the ones the job ad asks for that you can back up, and put them in the order the ad does.
Match the job ad
Many UAE employers use applicant tracking systems that look for the words in the ad. If the ad says "customer service" and you wrote "client care", use their wording, as long as it is true. Our CV and job match tool shows which requirements your CV already covers and which are missing.
Skills by job type
Examples of skills employers often mention. Pick only what you can do.

Languages
List each language with a level people understand: Native, Fluent, Professional or Basic. In the UAE, languages beyond English and Arabic, such as Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, Malayalam or Russian, can help in customer-facing roles, so include them.
Soft skills need proof
"Leadership" and "problem solving" only work when a bullet shows them. Put the proof in your experience section:
| Skill | Proof in a bullet |
|---|---|
| Leadership | Trained 4 new team members on the store's opening and closing routine |
| Problem solving | Cut delivery delays by planning routes around peak traffic hours |
| Customer service | Handled guest complaints at the front desk for a 120-room hotel |
Mistakes to avoid
- Skill bars or percentages ("Excel 80%"). They mean nothing to a recruiter and confuse screening software.
- Skills you cannot demonstrate in an interview.
- Only soft skills. Employers shortlist on the practical ones first.
